The spokesman of Football Federation of the United States confirmed that Federation has canceled the training it had planned in Doha, Qatar, this month “due to the developing situation in the region.”
The decision was made after the US bombing in Iraq that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. The federation said it was looking for a new site for the training camp, scheduled from January 5 to 25, in the United States.
The Americans are planning to play a friendly match against Costa Rica on February 1 in Carson, California, near Los Angeles. “We are working with the Qatar Football Association to find an opportunity in the near future for our team to experience Qatar’s premier facilities and hospitality,” USA Soccer said in a statement.
