Chromium-based web browser
Published by the Chinese online search giant, Baidu Browser is a web browser based on Google’s OpenSource Chromium project. Equipped with a classic interface, the browser is enriched with different modules as a built-in BitTorrent download client. Formerly called Spark Browser, this software works as a standard browser to which we would have grafted various extensions.
Available on Windows or Android, Baidu Browser is now published by the search engine of the same name. As an Asian equivalent of Google, Baidu is a major player in the Net in China. His methods relating to the management of personal data are sometimes contested: in February 2016, a report was concerned and his Baidu Browser allows filtering information related to the navigation of the user to the servers of the company.
Good built-in features
Beyond the elements of ergonomics, Baidu Browser stands out from the competition by the wealth of embedded features: a BitTorrent client is included in particular, just like a tool for downloading videos directly read online (YouTube or other) on his computer.
Baidu Browser also provides a tool for taking screenshots of entire web pages and is also compatible with Google Chrome extensions.
His grip:
In terms of ergonomics, we find a fairly traditional operation, with tabbed browsing and the ability to import its Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer favorites. Baidu Browser also supports the most common keyboard shortcuts. It also offers other interactions, via specific movements made with the mouse. We can for example choose to make a right click to return to the previous page.
