Mother of a minor Arrested by police for leaving her Child Inside Hot Car in Queens Parking Lot: Police

Police save a 3-year-old boy left inside a locked car in Queens, and now the child’s mother is under arrest.

32-year-old Monalisa Gomes allegedly left her son in the parking lot of a Target in College Point yesterday.

Police say someone spotted the toddler in the car and called 911.

You can see police breaking into the car in this Citizen App video.

The child had a jacket on and the windows were rolled up.

He was taken to a nearby hospital. Gomes is charged with reckless endangerment.

“It’s very sad. It’s very despicable that people could just leave a child in the car and be like, ‘hey I’m going to leave,’ and not remember that there’s a child in there. There’s a person, another life that needs you,” said one man.

The National Safety Council lists 34 children who have died in the U.S. so far this year, after being left in hot cars.

That figure includes the year-old twins who died after being left in a car for eight hours in the Bronx last month.
