Jessica Simpson lost 100 pounds in six months after giving birth to a baby

Even at the best of times and with all the motivation in the world, finding the time to drag yourself to the gym after a hard day at work and then cook yourself a healthy meal as well can be difficult.

This, coupled with the fact that we’re living in a society that constantly thrusts visions of physical perfection on us, can be damaging to our mental wellbeing.

One can barely wander down the street anymore without being confronted with a perfectly chiselled model in a bikini staring back at you, all elated smiles and perfect white teeth. Then, if one ventures down the filtered corridors of Instagram, the bombardment continues, with influencers selling you questionable diet mechanisms and charcoal toothpaste so that maybe, one day, your smile will look a little more like theirs.

Except that, none of us should feel pressured to look like anyone else. Celebrities – in particular female celebrities, though that is not to belittle the scope of the body shaming that male celebrities are also forced to contend with – are perhaps more familiar with this than anyone.

Under the never-ceasing glare of the spotlight, their every move dissected, each minute change to their bodies commented and speculated upon, it must be exhausting.

But Jessica Simpson is here with a positive message for all the new moms out there, after she took to Instagram to reveal her 100lb weight loss six months after giving birth.

She wrote;

“6 months. 100 pounds down (Yes, I tipped the scales at 240 😜)
My first trip away from #BIRDIEMAE and emotional for many reasons, but so proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder. 💚”

And her fans were full of support for her, with many taking to the comments. One wrote “You look incredible”, while another added “you look amazing! How did you do it?”

Maybe Jessica will share the method behind her weight loss in due course, but for now, she’s working hard on a new tell-all book about her life. It’s set to be released on February 4.
