President Trump had a checkup at Walter Reed hospital in Washington on Saturday — and though the White House released no details, it claims he’s doing great.
“The President remains healthy and energetic without complaints, as demonstrated by his repeated vigorous rally performances in front of thousands of Americans several times a week,” said a statement by White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
Grisham’s statement said Trump had a “quick exam and labs.” The exact nature of the exam and tests was not stated.
Trump sought the exams because he is “anticipating a very busy 2020” and was in Washington during a “a free weekend,” Grisham said.
The exam was only part of Trump’s annual physical, which he will finish in 2020, the White House said.
The president tried to resolve any mystery about his visit in a tweet early Sunday. “Everything very good (great!)” he wrote. “Will complete next year.”
Trump’s visit to the hospital lasted more than two hours. He spent time visiting with its medical staff and the family of a special forces soldier wounded in Afghanistan, the White House said.
During a checkup in February, Trump was reported to weigh 243 pounds — which, at 6-foot-3, is obese by common medical standards. His doctor said after that exam that Trump was in “very good health overall.”
