LifeWay Christian Resources announced on Wednesday plans to shutter all 170 of its LifeWay Christian Stores nationwide by the end of the year.

According to a statement released by the company, it will continue selling products through its website. LifeWay said the timing of the closures will depend on the local store.

According to a statement, LifeWay products include Bibles, books, Scripture reference tools, Bible studies, children’s products, Christian music and movies, gifts and church supplies.

“The decision to close our local stores is a difficult one,” acting CEO Brad Waggoner said. “LifeWay has developed close connections with the communities where our stores are located, and we have been honored to serve those communities. We will continue serving local congregations as they meet the spiritual needs of their neighbors.”
